Jalal Ghias Beygi (b. 1998, Tehran, Iran) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, video, and digital fabrication. Rooted in an inquiry into mortality, technology.
Beygi's work examines time, and space. By pushing materials and processes to their failure, he reveals the underlying structures that bind and constrain the human body and spirit, crafting works that challenge calculative thinking and embrace failure as a transformative act.
Through an experimental approach, Beygi explores the intersection of nature and technology, using the body as a critical lens to confront systems of acceleration and commodification. His practice emphasizes the cyclical nature of decay, questioning the notion of permanence in a world increasingly dominated by technological mediation.
Beygi was the artist in residence for the L.A. Turner Residency in 2024 and participated in international residencies such as Sculpture and Nature of Kish Island in 2020. He has contributed to significant academic discussions through his teaching roles, where he demystifies technology and the processes of making as a digital fabrication specialist. His work draws from both theoretical frameworks and personal narratives, intertwining the phenomenology of lived experience with broader sociopolitical critique.
Beygi holds a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Art in Tehran and is currently pursuing his MFA in Studio Art at Syracuse University.
